Value for Money?!

Here is a photo of Fuzz Ball's school shoes. He usually wears them four a days a week. I cringed at the cost of them when we bought them at the beginning of the school year. He wore them for the last time yesterday. They have been glued a few times this last term as I didn't want to buy a new pair now. Guess that's value for money!

What have I been doing lately?

If you've been living in a cave for the last two weeks then you won't know about the storms we've had in Brisbane. They sure were beauties. I've put a heap of photos up on my facebook but if you don't have it, here are just a few. The stuff on the veranda and on the lounge room floor is due to the carpets being cleaned and waiting for them to dry. They are finally dry as it's finally stopped raining so I can now put it all back in. What fun! It's supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow so I hope no more water gets in.

I really must go over the road and get some photos of the woodchippers working flat out from dawn to dusk, mulching all the trees. It's quite a scene. Nice smell too, all that bark.

How can you not be an animal lover?!

Check out my darling "girls". Here they are just chilling out on the front patio at my parents' house yesterday. Awww, so cute :)

And how about Daisy, our sweet little cat. Isn't she just so pretty!

Jump Rope for Heart

Today our local primary school was holding a Jump Rope for Heart day. Here are a few pics of two of my children jumping away for charity. I'm not the best photographer.

What gets up my nose?

So many people and things in this world annoy me. I am known by some as “The Bitter One”. I can’t imagine why?!

So what gets up my nose then? I feel the list could be never ending so here are just a few things:

 Over indulged children and their stupid parents who then complain their child is a shit.
 Parents who walk their children into school every day when there is a perfectly good drop off zone out the front. Once Little Sally has moved on from Prep, she doesn’t need you to walk her in, carrying her bag each day.
 The parents who are the other extreme – the ones who never turn up to anything at school or sport. Oh I’m far too busy. Yuh! If you’re not interested, then don’t have them.
 The parents, usually the same ones, who never volunteer. Again with the, I’m far too busy. Often far too busy working to buy material possessions for their little over indulged offspring, when all the children really want is your time. Instead of buying another mountain of gifts, give them an RSPCA or Animal Lib membership. Teach some compassion.
 People who don’t acknowledge you when you stop at a crossing or let them in the traffic. Is it so hard to nod your head or give a little wave?
 People who don’t say thanks to wait staff when they deliver a meal or clear the table.
 Kids who answer the phone – who is it – or a very dull hullo.
 People who phone for someone in my household and don’t say who they are, eg hello it’s Little Sammy here, can I please speak to Little Sally? They just say, is Little Sally there?
 Parents who don’t pay the very tiny voluntary contributions at school. Like it’s going to break the bank! Imagine how much more money schools would have if people paid their lousy $50? Usually the same ones who don’t volunteer.
 Companies who don’t have a person answering their phone. I just want someone to answer the phone and direct may call without having to press 56 numbers first.
 Stamp duty – wasn’t that supposed to go once the GST came in?
 My neighbour who must have THE most boring existence in the world as she feels the need to mow the lawn or leaf blow EVERY DAY. Sometimes morning and afternoon. What the?!
 People who work in schools and don’t like children. If you’re old and cranky – MOVE ON!
 Rude ads and rude DJs on the radio.
 Humour at the expensive of someone else.
 Myself – for letting all this get up my nose!

One more thing (well there's probably a heap more) - where have my smiley face bullets gone?

How could I forget one that really really annoys me?!
Motorbikes and bicycles - well I guess not them but their riders. I don't get the noise. Why do they have to be so loud? I'm going for the louder the bike, the smaller the winky.
Why do they have to speed? Yes they do speed. I live on a mountain road and trust me, they speed. They also overtake on the double line right outside our house, up hill and a blind spot. Strange.
Bicycle riders wearing those outfits. Oooh, yes, so manly. Yick. Why do people have to play dress ups, just to ride a bike? Why do they have to take up the road and not pull over for you? Why do they have to go past your house at daybreak and YELL to their fellow riders on your one sleep in day?

No doubt there will be many more things, but I guess that will do for now :)

Billboards

I'm not into churches and their billboards however one church in our area has a saying on theirs at the moment that I quite like.

"When you can't sleep - count your blessings"

So true. We get so caught up with material possessions and keeping up with everyone that we don't take a look at what we already have.

Happy Birthday Fuzz Ball!

Ok, so I'm a bit late... Fuzz Ball turned 13 on October 21. How can I possibly be old enough to be the mother of a teenager? Well, I guess I am.

A couple of pics of the ice cream cake (he doesn't like cake) after his pizza dinner. Nice easy night!

I'm not the best photograhper, but you get the idea :)

Fuzzball no more!

Check out this young chap... is this the face only a mother could love?!

Yep, I think so!

Mr Mumfies gave Fuzzball some money last week and suggested that perhaps he should visit the barber after school, before returning home. He did. Good boy. The barber asked him if his long hair was getting too hot now the weather is warming up. Nope, says Fuzzball, my Dad said to get it all cut off. So he did. Number 3 all over. He does look a tad thuggish, but isn't it only a week and a haircut should sort itself?! He seems so short now.

Do I now call him "Former Fuzzball"? Won't be long and he'll be back to the old Fuzzball again. Why do the boys always get the good hair?

Look at our daughter's beautiful hair. It's a rare moment when it's out like this, she always ties it back. She doesn't like people touching it or commenting on it. Always the way. Combing it when wet results in ringlets. So lovely. Oh how I'd love lots of hair......

Another use for the kitchen bench

Those of you who have Facebook have seen these pics. I thought I'd put them on here anyway. We have three guinea pigs - two short hair, one long hair. One day I walked into the kitchen to see Fuzz Ball and the long haired piggie. I took a breath before asking Fuzz Ball, "what are you doing?" Huh? Says Fuzz Ball, I'm cutting her fur (in a tone inferring I'm an idiot) - on the kitchen bench. Oh, fabulous!

Ok... take another breath.... pass over the disinfectant and leave the room..... Gotta luv 'em :)

Don't ya just love school projects?!

During the recent school holidays Fuzz Ball (our dear darling first born) had a science project to be done with a friend. Excuse me but it's school holidays. Why can't school work be kept to a school term? Seems very inefficient to me.

So what had to be done then? You could chose an experiment. We have a book, 101 cool science experiments. Fuzz Ball and friend decided to make a volcano. Oh joy, sounds like lots of mess. Yes it was! Off we toddle to the supermarket to purchase the ingredients. Shell out small fortune. Come home and, well you can see the photos here. Even Daisy, the cat, went out for a sniff and a look.

I don't think it was overly successful, with the fizzing and shooting up not being quite as they expected. Perhaps they thought it would shoot way up? Who knows with boys? They seemed to enjoy themselves. Isn't that the main object? Not so sure! They had to write all about it too. Apparently they have to do it all again in the classroom. I haven't been "sent" to purchase more stuff so hopefully they won't!

Here I am!

I've been meaning to start a new Blog, and here I am! I know, very exciting stuff! The other one I had allowed so much free space then you had to pay. Oooh, yick, don't like that idea very much. My dear friend, Mooselet, told me about this site, so I'm starting again.

What to say... jings.... well... the pressure.... so much has happened since July when I stopped using the other one but can I think of anything right now? Two of my three are in the pool, with first born gone for the night. Mr Mumfies is out installing some fans and I'm sitting here. See, very exciting stuff!

I'll have a fiddle around and hopefully come up with something. Don't expect too much, mind! I will even think of some blog names for my family.

Call back sometime and maybe there'll be something to see :)
