Happy Birthday Nonno!

Today is my Dad's 70th birthday. We went out for lunch and I've gotta say, the food was fantastic! We went to Bella Notte in Rosalie. We've been for lunch before so knew it was a safe choice. It's a great place to go and has very reasonable prices too. The choices were endless and they even had good old chicken nuggets for the Princess! I actually prefer to go for lunch rather than dinner. I'm too tired to go out at night. Might turn into a pumpkin!

I'll put a photo here sometime. I forgot my camera so will have to wait until my brother sends me some photos.

Happy Birthday, Dad and hope you enjoyed your day :)

It's Back to School!

Today was back to school for Princess, year 7 and Foo, year 5. My goodness! They were excited and nervous. Both were pleased with their teachers, so far so good. Well really Foo doesn't worry so much but Princess is quite a different kettle of fish.
Here are some of the photos I took before leaving home this morning.

Of course, there has to be one little hiccup. I thought I would be Mother of the Year and make their lunches for them today, since it's the first day and all. Hmmm, oh Princess, where is your lunch box? Thinking, thinking..... oh I know - it's in the canoe! Mr Mumfies took Princess and her cousin canoeing a few weeks ago. Ok, perhaps we'll have to sacrifice that one and get a new one. I can only imagine what it looks, and smells, like!

Fuzz Ball, year 9, returns tomorrow. He thought he was so good, staying home when the other two went to school. He walked them into school with me, finding their classrooms and helping with the load of books. Most out of character for our dear Fuzz Ball. He just wanted to gloat that little bit longer.

Fuzz Ball and I then went on to his high school, where I am P&C correspondence secretary, to mingle at the Welcome Cuppa for the year 8 parents and new to the school parents. I caught up with lots of friends and even talked to a few new people! I'm not really one for meeting people. I'm happier with people I know already. The high school has a staggered start for the first two days for the year. Year 8s and 11s, plus all new to the school students go the first day with the remainder turning up on the second day.

Princess and Foo were still smiling when I picked them up and had plenty to talk about. Waiting their turn seemed to be torturous to them! Foo has new children in his class and is happy to have some of his main friends in with him. Princess is in a year 6/7 class and not overly fussed as she doesn't have many of her main friends. I said she will have to make some more and will still get to catch up in the breaks. One of her main concerns was if they would make a Year 7 shirt small enough for her! I'm sure they will. Hopefully all the names will fit on a size 8!

The Aldi Experience

Well, today Princess, Foo and I decided to try Aldi, the supermarket that's supposed to be full of bargains. I tried to shop there once a few years back and when my purchases were left on the counter after being scanned and I had to purchase bags, I said they can have my stuff, forget it, I'm otta here!

Ok, so I'm not very tolerant. But that's me. So today I thought I'd give them another go, with bags in hand. In we went and immediately thought "yick". But we weren't going to give up so we solidiered on. We went up and down the isles a few times, not recogonising anything too much in there. I thought since we were there we should at least buy some stuff, so we did.

Upon deciding that there was absolutely nothing else we wanted we headed for the checkout. It was sooo sooo long. How odd. Princess, Foo and I put all the stuff on the conveyor belt, as we had observed other shoppers doing. Our turn. The operator scans our stuff, leaves it on the counter and we then tried to put it in the bags in the trolly. No time for that, just put it in the trolly kids. I swiped my credit card, was told there was a 1% surcharge for credit but not savings. I said I could afford it. I was offered a catalogue of specials for next time. No thanks, no next time for me.

What to do with the shopping all dropped back in the trolley? There is a bench so over we toddle, pack our bags and scurry out of there. You can keep your "bargains" along with all the undesirables who shop there, thanks very much. I felt very trendy and gorgeous, which tells you what the other shoppers looked like! I'm not well off, as you all know, but that's just ridiculous!

What's in the box?!

One day I'll get organised like my friend, Mooselet, and post regularly... well, I really don't have anything to write about! Actually, I'm sure Mooselet is the only one who reads this and she knows what happens in my life anyway!

Anyway, just something that happened the other day amused me and thought it may amuse you too.

Our Princess turned on the downstairs tv and it went "poof" according to her. Mr Mumfies was pleased as he's been wanting a new one. Off we toddle, notebook in hand, and go from store to store taking down prices and details. We eventually decided on one (a big shiny black plasma, well not huge!) and get it home, along with a video camera, mp3 player, usb and some surge protector thingie.

What did Foo like most?

Yep - the box! There's the old one on the floor behind.
