Foo's Adventure

Last Wednesday night after Foo’s team had finished football training, Foo decided to play on the wet cement, it was raining, with his boots still on. Obviously Mr Mumfies was in charge, not me!!

Foo’s friend comes running over to Mr Mumfies, who was chatting while waiting for Fuzz Ball’s training to finish. Foo’s hurt himself. Ya, hang on. No, he’s hurt, he’s KNOCKED OUT. Oh… Mr Mumfies then takes notice!

Foo had gone to kick the ball, slipped and went WHACK on the cement, hitting his back and head and knocking himself out. He wasn’t out for too long, they don’t think. Big egg on the back of his head, Finn’s not happy. Mr Mumfies is nervous – what will I say?! He rings me and lets me know he is on the way to the hospital and I’m to go and collect the boys. I was home as Princess didn’t go to soccer training due to having a cold. Quick dash to get the boys and home to wait. Mr Mumfies rang often and wasn’t long before he was home again. The private hospitals are expensive but you don’t wait for more than a few minutes so that’s why we go there. They didn't have to wait at all. Glenn was carrying a crying Foo. We should get reward points I reckon! No x-ray done as they don’t like to x-ray young ones too much.

Once he was ok, apart from a sore back and headache of course, all I could then think about was – MY HOLIDAY! Mr Mumfies and I were due to go to Melbourne early the next morning for our three nights away we have every two years. Far out! I phoned my Mum and asked if she would give up her movie and lunch day to come and mind Foo so we could still go. Of course she did! She was coming after school anyway. Thanks Mum!

We didn’t get much sleep that night. We had to check on Foo all night to make sure he wasn’t unconscious. He had done this before when he was 6. He fell from a retaining wall and knocked out cold again. I thought he was dead as he was just all limp. I was nearly sick. It still upsets me when I think about it. I don’t want those feelings ever again.

Foo wasn't too impressed. He had to miss his Thursday morning tennis lesson, Thursday afternoon tennis fixtures, Friday afternoon school touch football (which was thankfully raining out) and club football on Sunday. He's keen as mustard to get back to it! He can go back to training tonight - with head gear on his head!

Forgot to add a photo....

It's a bit out of date now, but.... I was to add photos of my Dad's birthday lunch when my brother sent them to me.

Here we go. From left to right.... Fuzz Ball, my Mum, my brother and partner, Mr Mumfies, me, Foo, my Dad and Princess.

Oh, and, it looks like no-one reads this, but I know you do as you tell me/email me. Pop a comment on here sometimes so I look like I have the occasional reader! I feel so alone!

More on my little leader

I had to add these photos I took this morning. Unfortunately the sun is right in Princess's eyes, but you can get the idea. Each day the names change on the noticeboard, according to the group being congratulated. Have to be quick to snap a few pics or the opportunity is gone.

The first photo was taken after the Leader assembly. Thought I'd add it so you can see the group, some paying attention, some not! The students are from years 4 - 7 for the class leaders and year 7 for the school leaders and sports.

Important Information on the Stimulus Payment

You may have seen before, but I like it!

"This year, taxpayers will receive an Economic Stimulus Payment.

This is a very exciting new program that I will explain using the Q and A
format:

"Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment?

"A. It is money that the federal government will send to Taxpayers.

"Q. Where will the government get this money?

"A. From taxpayers.

"Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?

"A. Only a smidgen.

"Q. What is the purpose of this payment?

"A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a
high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

"Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China?

"A. Shut up."
_____________________________________________

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the Economy by spending
your stimulus check wisely:

If you spend that money at K-Mart, all the money will go to China.

If you spend it on petrol it will go to the Arabs.

If you purchase a computer it will go to India.

If you purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to South East Asia or
New Zealand (unless you buy organic).

If you buy a car it will go to Japan.

If you purchase useless cr*p it will go to Taiwan.

And none of it will help the economy.

We need to keep that money here. You can keep the money here by
spending it at garage sales, going to a football game, or spending it on
prostitutes, beer or tattoos, since those are the only businesses still
here.

My Little Leader

Today at Princess and Foo's school the Student Leaders Induction school assembly was held. You've no doubt worked out that one of mine must be a new leader. Well, you're right! The Princess is the vice captain for her sporting house. She was so excited and looking forward to today. It was a lovely ceremony and it didn't go on and on, which can happen at such occasions.

There were the local council members, the Principal and school captains from the local high school as well as plenty of family and friends of all the new leaders. Following assembly there was a morning tea where we could chat with all of them and share in their excitement. I introduced Princess to the high school principal and asked him to keep an eye on her next year. She was not amused!

Have a look at the boy vice captain in the photo (I couldn't' get a good one so am hoping someone else did). He's towers over my little Princess. She is a tiny wee thing but it doesn't stop her!

It's been a busy few days with Foo getting player of the week for his tennis fixtures yesterday as well as man of the match for his inter school touch football today. He even scored a try! Poor Princess dropped the ball just as she was about to score. Ah well, that's football!

Gotta love cats!

In the wee small hours this morning, as I was enjoying my slumber, I heard a faint "meow meow". I must have been in a light sleep to hear it. Oh great, Daisy must have got out before we closed up the house last night. Righto, up I get and open the door from our bedroom that leads out to the front veranda. Daisy, where are you? Puss, Puss, Puss..... again I hear the faint meows. Hmmmm, where is she? Oh, there she is - up on the roof! She's looking down at me and is now purring. How am I going to get her down? We are on the second story of our house. I'll have to climb out on the railing, leaning over the pavers surrounding the pool. What if I fall? What if she falls? OMG! What to do, what to do. What did I do?

Yes, I climbed up, hanging over the edge, trying not to look down. Trying not to visualize me splattered on the pavers below, in my pjs with messy hair, morning breath and no lipstick! Daisy is still leaning down towards me, purring.

I grab on to the post with one hand and grab Daisy by the scruff of the neck with the other. Daisy gives a few distressed meows and puts out the claws. She catches my shirt and starts to make gagging noises. I guess I have the collar caught in my grip. I'm telling her to let go or we're both going down. She didn't listen! I managed to lean over to my hand that was clutching the pole and release her claws and drop her on to the veranda. I get down and we're both safe. Phew!

Does Daisy shower me with thanks? Oh, of course not! She toddles on down to the other end of the veranda, out on to the carport. Well, you're welcome! I went inside. Should I go back to bed? No because then she'll just meow again soon. I went around the other side of the house and opened a door. In strolls Princess Daisy and over to her food bowl. I guess she's recovered then!

Me, I had to go back to bed, still thinking of being splattered, and try and nod off again. The rest of the household blissfully unaware of my trauma!

Gotta love cats!

Can I go to school too?!

Our cat, Princess Daisy, loves bags. Bags of any kind. If they're on the floor, she's in it / on it. She loves shopping day when there are bags galore all over the kitchen floor.

Here is Princess Daisy on top of our Princess's school backpack. I like the way the straps of the backpack are over her shoulders! She's keen. Let's go!

Awww, and here they are all tuckered out at the end of the day, having a rest on the lounge.
