Gotta love cats!

In the wee small hours this morning, as I was enjoying my slumber, I heard a faint "meow meow". I must have been in a light sleep to hear it. Oh great, Daisy must have got out before we closed up the house last night. Righto, up I get and open the door from our bedroom that leads out to the front veranda. Daisy, where are you? Puss, Puss, Puss..... again I hear the faint meows. Hmmmm, where is she? Oh, there she is - up on the roof! She's looking down at me and is now purring. How am I going to get her down? We are on the second story of our house. I'll have to climb out on the railing, leaning over the pavers surrounding the pool. What if I fall? What if she falls? OMG! What to do, what to do. What did I do?

Yes, I climbed up, hanging over the edge, trying not to look down. Trying not to visualize me splattered on the pavers below, in my pjs with messy hair, morning breath and no lipstick! Daisy is still leaning down towards me, purring.

I grab on to the post with one hand and grab Daisy by the scruff of the neck with the other. Daisy gives a few distressed meows and puts out the claws. She catches my shirt and starts to make gagging noises. I guess I have the collar caught in my grip. I'm telling her to let go or we're both going down. She didn't listen! I managed to lean over to my hand that was clutching the pole and release her claws and drop her on to the veranda. I get down and we're both safe. Phew!

Does Daisy shower me with thanks? Oh, of course not! She toddles on down to the other end of the veranda, out on to the carport. Well, you're welcome! I went inside. Should I go back to bed? No because then she'll just meow again soon. I went around the other side of the house and opened a door. In strolls Princess Daisy and over to her food bowl. I guess she's recovered then!

Me, I had to go back to bed, still thinking of being splattered, and try and nod off again. The rest of the household blissfully unaware of my trauma!

Gotta love cats!

Can I go to school too?!

Our cat, Princess Daisy, loves bags. Bags of any kind. If they're on the floor, she's in it / on it. She loves shopping day when there are bags galore all over the kitchen floor.

Here is Princess Daisy on top of our Princess's school backpack. I like the way the straps of the backpack are over her shoulders! She's keen. Let's go!

Awww, and here they are all tuckered out at the end of the day, having a rest on the lounge.

Percussion Boom Boom!

Our dear Foo had his first ever Band Camp. It was for beginners. He was so excited! It was a two day camp, coming home at night. Huh?! Anyways, he was quite excited... until... what, there will be other schools there? Oh, no! You see, Foo is quite a shy boy. He was the same with choir last year. Absolutely loved it, until it came time to perform or join with other schools.

The camp was on last Friday so last Thursday I see him trudging across the school oval with a mountain of stuff to carry. The kit had arrived. No wonder it was so expensive, it was huge.

Foo came home the first day quite tired but happy to show us a bit of what he had done that day. That was Friday. No more over the weekend though as he wasn't going back! Monday I managed to talk him round and dropped him off. They had a concert at the end of the day so we could see how far they'd come. They were all so cute and getting right into it. Unfortunately I couldn't get close for a photo. The children were grouped according to their instruments, each group taking turns to perform. Here's the best I could get. Foo is second on the left. He played one song on the glockenspiel and two on the drum.

Happy Birthday to Foo

Another birthday to celebrate in the family today. Our baby boy, Foo, turned 10 today. He didn't wake us too early, 7am. He was so excited. He couldn't wait for yesterday to be over so he could go to bed and wake up 10! The first thing we gave him was the huge box of Fruit Loops. Our kids aren't allowed rubbish cereal, only for special treats. Foo's choice this year was Fruit Loops. "Not that little tiny box of homebrand ones, Mum, I want a big box of Fruit Loops!" Luckily for him they were on sale last week.

Foo decided he would like to go to Sizzler for lunch. Ended up being 13 of us and it's an easy place to take kids. We had us, a friend from school, Mr Mumfies' Mum and Dad and our two nieces as well as three mountain friends. Back here afterwards for Grandma's cake and a swim. My brother and girlfriend called in for afternoon tea. They didn't want to come to lunch. How bizzare!! What a busy day. Kids are now finsihing the day playing Monopoly with Mr Mumfies. I hate Monopoly.

Foo is a really funny boy, often in his own world, and we love him to bits!

Here are a few photos from today and some from last night with his presents from my parents. New doona cover with skulls on it. He's skull mad. (No he doesn't sleep in a cot, it's a bunk bed! Bed on top, desk and shelves underneath). He also wanted some heavier weights than his 1 kilo ones. These new ones are 2.5 kilos.

Adding some monopoly photos later on here too. Seems Fuzz Ball is getting a right flogging and none too impressed! Will the game ever end, I want to know?! A late night with grumpy kids tomorrow? Ah well, they're having fun now.

Happy Birthday Nonno!

Today is my Dad's 70th birthday. We went out for lunch and I've gotta say, the food was fantastic! We went to Bella Notte in Rosalie. We've been for lunch before so knew it was a safe choice. It's a great place to go and has very reasonable prices too. The choices were endless and they even had good old chicken nuggets for the Princess! I actually prefer to go for lunch rather than dinner. I'm too tired to go out at night. Might turn into a pumpkin!

I'll put a photo here sometime. I forgot my camera so will have to wait until my brother sends me some photos.

Happy Birthday, Dad and hope you enjoyed your day :)

It's Back to School!

Today was back to school for Princess, year 7 and Foo, year 5. My goodness! They were excited and nervous. Both were pleased with their teachers, so far so good. Well really Foo doesn't worry so much but Princess is quite a different kettle of fish.
Here are some of the photos I took before leaving home this morning.

Of course, there has to be one little hiccup. I thought I would be Mother of the Year and make their lunches for them today, since it's the first day and all. Hmmm, oh Princess, where is your lunch box? Thinking, thinking..... oh I know - it's in the canoe! Mr Mumfies took Princess and her cousin canoeing a few weeks ago. Ok, perhaps we'll have to sacrifice that one and get a new one. I can only imagine what it looks, and smells, like!

Fuzz Ball, year 9, returns tomorrow. He thought he was so good, staying home when the other two went to school. He walked them into school with me, finding their classrooms and helping with the load of books. Most out of character for our dear Fuzz Ball. He just wanted to gloat that little bit longer.

Fuzz Ball and I then went on to his high school, where I am P&C correspondence secretary, to mingle at the Welcome Cuppa for the year 8 parents and new to the school parents. I caught up with lots of friends and even talked to a few new people! I'm not really one for meeting people. I'm happier with people I know already. The high school has a staggered start for the first two days for the year. Year 8s and 11s, plus all new to the school students go the first day with the remainder turning up on the second day.

Princess and Foo were still smiling when I picked them up and had plenty to talk about. Waiting their turn seemed to be torturous to them! Foo has new children in his class and is happy to have some of his main friends in with him. Princess is in a year 6/7 class and not overly fussed as she doesn't have many of her main friends. I said she will have to make some more and will still get to catch up in the breaks. One of her main concerns was if they would make a Year 7 shirt small enough for her! I'm sure they will. Hopefully all the names will fit on a size 8!

The Aldi Experience

Well, today Princess, Foo and I decided to try Aldi, the supermarket that's supposed to be full of bargains. I tried to shop there once a few years back and when my purchases were left on the counter after being scanned and I had to purchase bags, I said they can have my stuff, forget it, I'm otta here!

Ok, so I'm not very tolerant. But that's me. So today I thought I'd give them another go, with bags in hand. In we went and immediately thought "yick". But we weren't going to give up so we solidiered on. We went up and down the isles a few times, not recogonising anything too much in there. I thought since we were there we should at least buy some stuff, so we did.

Upon deciding that there was absolutely nothing else we wanted we headed for the checkout. It was sooo sooo long. How odd. Princess, Foo and I put all the stuff on the conveyor belt, as we had observed other shoppers doing. Our turn. The operator scans our stuff, leaves it on the counter and we then tried to put it in the bags in the trolly. No time for that, just put it in the trolly kids. I swiped my credit card, was told there was a 1% surcharge for credit but not savings. I said I could afford it. I was offered a catalogue of specials for next time. No thanks, no next time for me.

What to do with the shopping all dropped back in the trolley? There is a bench so over we toddle, pack our bags and scurry out of there. You can keep your "bargains" along with all the undesirables who shop there, thanks very much. I felt very trendy and gorgeous, which tells you what the other shoppers looked like! I'm not well off, as you all know, but that's just ridiculous!
